The Tasman is designed to push the boundaries of what is possible from a pickup truck and invites customers to “dive into a new dimension.” With its purposeful design and state-of-the-art technology, combined with class-leading features and an ultra-spacious, comfortable cabin, the Tasman is poised to redefine standards in the sector, allowing drivers to explore new horizons.
Drawing on more than five decades of expertise in the development of special-purpose vehicles, including SUVs, the Kia Tasman is a truly transformative pick-up truck that effortlessly meets the needs of both work and leisure.
Injecting the heritage of Kia’s SUV models with exceptional off-road capabilities, including the rugged Mojave, the Tasman is comprehensively engineered to meet the diverse needs of customers on all terrains. Kia’s design team deliberately avoided the familiar form language that has dominated the pickup truck genre for decades. This fresh approach to aesthetics strips away the unnecessary to start with a basic, honest form that emphasizes the vehicle’s sense of solid power through simple yet functional elements, without relying on the over-the-top styling that has come to dominate the pickup segment.
Regarding the cabin, the state-of-the-art 12.3-inch + 5-inch + 12.3-inch widescreen panoramic technology gives the driver and front passenger access to vehicle controls and advanced infotainment options. An optional Harmon Kardon premium eight-speaker audio system allows users to take full advantage of standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
The Tasman’s length is 5410mm, the wheelbase is 3270mm, while the cargo area is 1512mm long, 1572mm wide (1186mm between the wheels) and 540mm deep, providing a capacity of 1173 liters (VDA). The Tasman has a maximum payload of 1195kg in 2WD mode, with a towing capacity of 3500kg.
The Tasman is offered as a base model in both X-Line and X-Pro versions. The X-Pro is said to provide superior off-road performance thanks to 28mm more ground clearance, totaling 252mm. It is fitted with 17-inch gloss black wheels with all-terrain tyres, while the X-Line has larger 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Tasman will be offered in Korea with a 2.5-liter 281 hp gasoline engine and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With 421 Nm of torque, the Kia Tasman can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 km/h.
In the Australian market, the pick-up will have a 2.2 liter 210 hp diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With 441 Nm of torque, the Tasman goes from 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds, while the top speed is also 185 km/h.
In other regions, such as the Middle East and Africa, buyers can choose between a 2.5 liter petrol engine equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 2.2 liter diesel engine with a choice of eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission (depending on the market).
